We are seeking a full-time Public Health Research Leader to join Karna in its Atlanta, GA office. The successful candidate will have graduate training, 8-10 years of research experience in public health related program and policy evaluation, and progressive project management experience.
Responsibilities
Ideal candidates for this position will have experience across a variety of program evaluation approaches for public health projects, including (but not limited to):
- Design and analysis of prospective and retrospective studies and health outcomes surveys to assess the impact of public health programs and policies on key outcomes
- Development of logic models and key performance metrics associated with objective evaluation research
- Implementation of literature searches and environmental scans to support evaluation research goals
- Qualitative and quantitative research assessing the impact of programs and policies on key outcomes
- Review technical data related to public health, healthcare and other data to prepare summaries, analyses, technical reports, and presentations
- Support and lead preparation of accurate, concise technical reports
- Support and lead preparation and submission of publishable manuscripts
- Assist with preparation of proposals, including technical sections
- Support business development efforts, including strategic planning and monitoring of current and future business opportunities
- Supervise, train, and mentor junior staff
- Project Management responsibilities, including maintaining schedule and quality of deliverables, management of contributing technical staff, monitoring project fiscal resources, and being the main point of contact for clients
- Perform other related duties as required
Qualifications
Candidates must demonstrate the following minimum requirements in order to be forwarded for consideration:
- Master’s degree or higher in the social sciences, epidemiology, or other relevant public health field
- 8-10 years’ work experience in health policy, public health, program evaluation, socio-medical or clinical research, or related fields pertaining to chronic disease, infectious disease, population and community health or healthcare services quality improvement
- 3-5 years’ progressive experience in managing project budgets, schedules, resources, subcontracts and staff
- Experience in advanced research methods, including mixed methods research.
- Software-supported quantitative analysis, qualitative analysis, literature reviews, information synthesis
- Experience with research on tobacco prevention/cessation, chronic disease (diabetes), and/or substance use disorder strongly preferred
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team and meet multiple tight deadlines
- Well-versed in Microsoft Office products
- Candidates will ideally be located in Metro Atlanta; other locations may be considered
Compensation will be based on qualifications and experience. A minimal amount of domestic travel is anticipated. A full benefits package will be provided.
