About The Role
This senior academic leadership position will have overall responsibility for the strategic and operational leadership of the UNSW academic activities across all parts of the School of Clinical Medicine, and the relationships with our key partners including relevant Local Health Districts, Specialty Health Networks, Pillar Organisations, Affiliated Health Organisations, Government more broadly, education, research and the business community in a collaborative effort to develop the Health, Education and Research capabilities in the area.
You will foster and lead a unified UNSW presence across the School of Clinical Medicine, exercising creative and effective leadership in the development and implementation of innovative teaching, learning and research programs across the School of Clinical Medicine as a whole, ensuring that these programs align with Faculty, UNSW and broader partner strategic objectives. This position will report into the Dean of Medicine & Health and be a key member of the Faculty Leadership Team.
You will have an extensive record of outstanding achievement in a senior leadership position at Faculty level within a university setting or equivalent, as a well-established and respected senior academic, in an appropriate medical discipline, and with a deep lifelong commitment to the values and roles of a major research University operating in an international context. The position requires the applicant to have a medical degree, with PhD or equivalent and an outstanding teaching and/or research record. You will also have entrepreneurial experience, a tolerance for ambiguity, and a passion for the missions of education, research, community engagement and the healthcare system.
The position will also require strong skills in analysis and change management and a proven ability to mentor and motivate diverse teams to achieve a high-performance culture, develop future leaders and manage performance. It would be highly desirable if you also have a proven ability to attract research and/or philanthropic funding and you have had successful interactions with relevant professional organisations and/or evidence of leadership in broader health system management.
