ECHO Infectious Disease MD Consultant  Global Health

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Infectious Disease MD is responsible for supporting at least one ECHO session per week for a total of 16 weeks for the National Nursing Home COVID-19 Action Network through the collaboration between the University of Chicago and Project HOPE for Illinois nursing homes enrolled in the project.  Functions include providing support as a panelist and facilitator in a multidisciplinary central team throughout 90-minute sessions of live zoom presentations for cohorts of nursing homes. The weekly presentations throughout the 16 weeks of phase 1 of this project will adhere to a curriculum provided by AHRQ and IHI which focus on preventing and limiting the spread of COVID-19 in nursing homes.  These are evidence-based presentations related to COVID-19 Infection Prevention and Management approaches and solutions, treatment and care management of infected patients, and other team care approaches to quality improvement measures.  The Infectious Disease Specialist will also be responsible for answering questions and guiding discussion related to case presentations from the participant facilities through the traditional ECHO model of short didactic presentations accompanied by case-based learning. The qualified consultant needs to have the ability to work remotely from a home office or workspace, including having good internet capability, and computer with speaker and camera.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Facilitate 16 weekly 90-minute ECHO sessions for the National Nursing Home COVID-19 Action Network, including helping to guide discussions between participants, guest speakers and participant-led case presentations as part of the central team.
Respond to questions from series participants, providing support and guidance to nursing homes in navigating barriers encountered as they implement best practices.
Prepare for sessions by reviewing the latest COVID-19 nursing home guidelines and/or COVID-19 literature as well as reviewing the topic of the week, and any provided didactic materials for the week in advance of the session such as the 1-2 case presentation(s) and content slide deck and videos from IHI.
Participate in an ECHO session to observe how they are conducted prior to the launch of the program.Be prepared to follow the curriculum provided and the ECHO model for all sessions and expand on the information provided through own expertise and evidence based practices.
Participate in at least one weekly planning meeting (1 hour), and a short weekly session defrief (15-30 min).
